The Great Canadian Cheese Festival!

The Enright Cattle Company is putting the beef in this year’s Great Canadian Cheese Festival.

One of the festival’s official sponsors, the Tweed-based Enright Cattle Company will be teaming up with Belleville’s Burger Revolution and Brighton’s Trade Craft Fine Foods as part of the festival’s Saturday night Makers and Mongers event. As well as having the chance to meet and mingle with the people who make all those great cheeses, wines and other fantastic foods, lucky event-goers will be offered “Cheeseburgers in Paradise,” hearty burgers featuring excellent Canadian cheese and Enright’s succulent, hormone-free beef. Tickets for the event are $35, and limited to 300 in total.

“We already supply Burger Revolution and Trade Craft, so the decision to team up with them to do Cheeseburgers in Paradise was easy,” says Kara Enright, the president of the Tweed-based Enright Cattle Company. Burger Revolution and Trade Craft are also co-sponsors of the festival.

“Co-sponsoring the Great Canadian Cheese Festival made sense for us, too,” says Enright. “The sort of people who like great Canadian artisanal cheeses, people who are into the whole local food movement, are going to enjoy Enright beef.” As well as participating in the Makers and Mongers event, Enright will have a stand at the festival where customers can purchase their products and learn more about their operation. Co-sponsor Trade Craft will be offering pastrami made from Enright beef at the booth next door.

This year’s Great Canadian Cheese Festival takes place on Saturday June 6 and Sunday June 7 at the fairgrounds in Picton, Ontario. Featuring dozens of cheese producers, winemakers, craft brewers and other food makers, the festival typically draws more than 5,000 people over the course of the weekend.

A family-based business (Kara and her husband Darold are both fourth-generation farmers), Enright raises hormone- free Simmental cattle on a natural vegetable diet.
