For the Kids

What is it like being a kid on the farm?
I get to help raise all the animals and pet my favourite ones! I have my own chores that I like to do each day like collect the eggs and feed the kitties. I get to help plant the garden and best of all pick the fresh produce we grow. My favourite part of the garden is the strawberry patch!
Cow facts
  • A cow is a mature female
  • A bull is a mature male
  • A calf is a cows baby
  • Cows can live to be 25 years old
  • A cow can see all colours except red!

  • A cow does not bite the grass, she curls it around her tongue
  • Cows have 4 stomachs.
This allows for them to turn grass (which is hard to digest) into milk for their calves
Cows spend 6 hours eating and 8 hours chewing their cud per day. A cows cud is grass that she has already slightly chewed and swallowed. The cow regurgitates her cud and chews that food more in order to help digest it then swallows it for the second time.
Some breeds or cows are kept for just milk and others are kept for just beef
Cows are very social animals and prefer to live in large groups called a "herd"
