We are big believers in reusing and repurposing

For a long time we’ve wanted a space here on the farm where we could showcase our beef, leather goods and other products. We are big believers in reusing and repurposing, now everything has come together with the opening of our new “grain bin store!”

What’s a grain bin? It’s small, round corrugated steel building that traditionally was used to store grain. I thought it would be a great idea to turn our surplus grain bin into a store. So we took one apart (after carefully marking all the pieces!), moved it nearer the road to where we’d made a new foundation, and bolted it back together. It was like a giant jigsaw puzzle! But it went back together perfectly.

Then Darold got busy adding doors and windows and finishing the inside. We got the supporting beams from an old barn that was being demolished down the road. The counter is a recycled cocktail cabinet topped with leather from one of our hides. My display bins are old apple crates I got from a neighbouring farmer and cleaned up, and Darold branded them with our logo.

Everything looks wonderful! We’ve got a freezer with our beef for sale and all our fantastic leather goods made from our own hides. I found a lady nearby who’s making soap for us using our tallow – and a potter to make Enright branded soap dishes! We have great t-shirts for sale, too – are you tender, tasty or trustworthy?

Right now the plan is to be open on weekends from 11 am to 3 pm. But life on the farm can sometimes be unpredictable, so before dropping by please give us a call at 1.613.885.3418 or send us a message. We look forward to seeing you!
